Few hotels place you this close to the shopping. Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta stands at Bundaran HI, directly connected to Grand Indonesia, one of Southeast Asia's largest malls, and a short walk from Plaza Indonesia, one of the city's most established luxury mall. Beyond the centre, Jakarta's two premium outlet malls sit within an hour's drive or wuick Whoosh trip. From a flagship boutique to an outlet bargain hunt, everything is in reach from a single base, and the part most people dislike, the journey there, is taken care of.
A curated guide from the hotel's concierge team, from the mall connected to our lobby to the luxury houses a few minutes away on foot.
Grand Indonesia
Reached from the hotel by an internal passage, with no need to step outside or cross a road. More than 400 stores across the East and West Malls, linked by a five-floor skybridge, anchored by the Seibu and Central department stores and running from luxury houses to high-street names.
Plaza Indonesia
The city's original luxury mall, across seven levels and just over Bundaran HI. It carries the heaviest concentration of designer houses in central Jakarta, alongside fine jewellery and luxury watches.
Agora Mall
A short way down Jalan M.H. Thamrin, Agora is Central Jakarta's newest lifestyle mall, set within the Thamrin Nine complex. It leans more towards entertainment and dining than pure retail, with Central Jakarta's first IMAX, bowling, billiards and a broad mix of restaurants and cafés.
Thamrin City
The practical counterpoint within roughly a kilometre, a value and wholesale centre best known for batik, textiles and bulk fashion. The place for local fabric, traditional dress or gifts at market prices.
If you are ready to venture a little further from Bundaran HI, the city's other luxury malls to the south, and the premium outlets beyond.
Pacific Place & the Senayan Malls
A short ride south opens three more upscale destinations, worth the trip for a specific brand or a quieter atmosphere. Pacific Place, in the Sudirman business district, is home to Galeries Lafayette, Jakarta's most exclusive department store, alongside Hermès and Prada. Plaza Senayan and Senayan City add further luxury houses and strong dining.
The Grand Outlet, Karawang
Indonesia's largest luxury outlet mall, built as an open-air, green-space development with around 180 stores and daily discounts reaching 70% to 80%. Reach it two ways: by car, around an hour from the hotel, or by Whoosh, Indonesia's high-speed train, around 15 minutes from Halim station to Karawang, where a free shuttle connects to the outlet's main lobby. Read more about free shuttle schedule here.
Jakarta Premium Outlets, Alam Sutera
The closer of the two outlet malls, around 45 minutes from the hotel or 30 minutes from Soekarno-Hatta airport, which makes it an easy stop on arrival or departure. Around 150 designer and brand-name stores with discounts of up to 65% every day.
For the full benefit of the hotel's location, the connected mall, and a concierge team who know the city's retail map, booking directly makes the difference and enjoy:
Six Dining Venues to Pause Between Stores
From a quick sweet stop at Kempi Deli to a considered dinner at OKU, the hotel's dining venues give you somewhere to rest and reset through out your shopping days.
The Rooftop Reset
The 17th-floor pool and Kempinski The Spa are where a long day of shopping unwinds, with the Jakarta skyline as the backdrop and no commute required.
A Car When You Need One
The concierge can arrange a car to either outlet mall and advise on timing to work around peak traffic, so a half-day in Karawang or Alam Sutera stays relaxed from start to finish.
