Riga Birthday Festival

• 14 - 16 August 2026
• Riga's birthday celebrations will take place throughout the Old Town, as well as on the 11th November Embankment and in some city parks, marking Riga's 825th year as a city! Throughout the day, residents of Riga and city guests will be delighted by a variety of concert programs, children’s events, street-artist performances, markets featuring craftsmen’s and artisans’ creations, and food-tasting festivities. The 24-hour basketball tournament “Krastu mačs” will take place, during which for a full day players of various skill levels from the right and left banks of the Daugava will take to the court. DJs and musicians will perform, and contests and entertainment for spectators will be held.

Contemporary Culture Forum - White Night 2026

• 5 September 2026
• Metaphorically speaking (in the Romance languages), white night means a sleepless night, and this year as usual in early September, residents and guests of Riga are invited to join the experience of a sleepless night full of surprising sensations in central Riga, Old Town and other neighborhoods. The night will be saturated with various forms of contemporary art – concerts, installations and performances in the the urban environment, exhibitions, multimedia projects and poetry readings.
